About this deal

In this lively memoir Rachel Bland has managed the impossible: to turn a tremendously sad and untimely goodbye from her little Freddie into an incredibly uplifting recount of her life. Jeremy Allen White is given the 'perfect face' based on science - so, do YOU think the actor looks more attractive? I feel so privileged to have been able to read this wonderful book for Freddie, with Rachael's wisdom and anecdotes. It was these three amazing women going through a really difficult time who were talking and joking about it like it was Eastenders and they were down the pub or whatever. The BBC Radio 5 Live broadcaster died aged 40 after suffering from breast cancer, which she documented on You, Me and the Big C.

She continued to blog and run You, Me and the Big C, and hoped that she could do enough to give her son memories of her life. That's what I've been told, his grief will come and go and it's probably when he's four, five or six we will start to see more how it's affected him. I am also planning and wrapping birthday presents which he can open between the ages of four and twenty one. In the early stages of her condition, she continued to present Radio 5 Live, saying she would rather be known as "Rachael the news presenter" than "Rachael the cancer patient".I couldn't finish this book - I just felt like it was very personal and therefore didn't particularly engage me. Cancer was a big taboo, the conversation wasn’t normalised and people didn’t know what to expect, they didn’t know what it would look likem” Steve adds. This "new normal", with Bland's metastasised and untreatable cancer, robbed the presenter of her future.

My co-presenter Lauren Mahon put it well on the podcast – if you’d broken up with someone, you wouldn’t have pictures all over the house but when someone dies you do. I have listened to the amazing podcast with admiration, in the darkest of days Rachael has inspired others to talk about cancer and has been incredibly brave in doing so, with nothing off limits. The thought that you have to grow up without me there to cuddle you when you're sick , had a bad dream or just want your mummy is too much to bear.We use a number of different Social Media outlets to manage extra content that can set cookies on your device and collect data about your activity. He told how son Freddie doesn't understand that his mother is never coming back - and told Steve he shouldn't have sold Rachael's car as 'Mummy might need it'.
