About this deal

Each comes with special abilities forcing players to reveal some of their secret cards, but you’ll need to collect them in sets to activate them.

Recruit the assistance of Agatha Christie’s most beloved detectives — such as Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, or Ariadne Oliver — to find out which secrets your fellow players are hiding. In Agatha Christie: Death on the Cards, players work co-operatively to solve a murder, using their detective skills to unmask the culprit and prevent their escape. Most allow you to force another player to turn over a ‘Secret’, sometimes of their choosing, sometimes of yours. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. With the way the box opens, it would have been a clever idea to make it look like an Agatha Christie novel. escape (see about my family's first try at the game below) and I would say the same is true in giving a chance for the "innocents" to win also. Everything needed to play Death on the Cards fits neatly into a 4×6 inch box, making it easy to travel with. They’ve done a great job of bringing Agatha Christie’s world to life and portraying the Agatha Christie vibe all through the game.

Since players can play them at any time and they stack, this eventually turned into three players throwing down Not So Fast! The result is that you’ll try to trade cards with others around the table, accumulating the ones you need to unmask the murderer.

Maybe some people would be able to play this sedately, but family psychology meant we were in fits with each new twist and turn of the game. A killer might be identified early (inadvertently) if he is checking the secret cards in front of him. The basic premise is the same however many players you have – the murderer must exhaust the draw pile to reveal the ‘Murderer Escapes’ card which depicts them gleefully skipping off into the distance with nary a care in the world. You might be concealing the fact that you’ve faked your own death, or that you’re a problem gambler, or a kleptomaniac, or that you’ve written a steamy account of your passionate affair with the prime minister. Character cards, based on Agatha Christie’s detectives, are what help players to uncover other players’ secrets.

The full title is "Agatha Christie's Death on the Cards", created in 2019 by Modiphius Entertainment, a game publisher based in the UK. The game consists of 80 full colour, illustrated cards with 18 secret cards, 25 detective cards, 22 event cards, 4 devious cards, 10 ‘Not so Fast’ cards and 1 Murderer Escapes! You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The Point Your Suspicions card is a fun card which, timed well, can have a significant impact on the game. Here’s an interview with Tomas Rawlings from Agatha Christie Limited (ACL) which goes into more detail about the creation of the game and the partnership. Though I enjoyed seeing these characters (which include less-known detectives Tommy and Tuppence Beresford) it was difficult to collect enough detectives to make a full set; only one player was able to achieve it during our game. There has been a murder and you must use your detective skills to uncover the culprit - however the path of justice won’t be that simple for you have deep dark secrets you want to keep hidden, while trying to shine the light of truth on to this dastardly deed!
