Two minifgures therefore decide to go on a safari. Together with their tour guide, Greg, they visit three iconic safari scenes. When built, the safari off-roader measures over 3" (10cm) high, 6" (16cm) long and 2" (6cm) wide. That's enough room to store all the gear kids need for a successful safari. On top of the rather stubby tree trunk sits the base of the tree house, with a small balcony surrounded by balustrades on either side of the building. They are rather small, though, with standing room of only four studs on each. The second stop is at an Acacia tree. An owl has made its nest in the tree and stands guard over its eggs. The minifigures get to see a monkey swinging from the branches as it looks for fruit to eat and there is also a spider crawling up the trunk for those brave enough to go take a look. The Acacia scene includes: Yes, our Chilean flamingos will be out daily from 10am until 4.30pm for visitors to enjoy. Watch as they display with their wings outspread and perform the 'head dance' around their exhibit. Plant pollinator-friendly flowers, create a toad shelter or a bug hotel. From visiting our wetland centre you’ll see that all wildlife benefits from the addition of water, so why not build a garden pond and feel the satisfaction of watching wildlife thrive?

The Primary Model

This LEGO City Great Vehicles playset delivers an enjoyable, independent build-and-play experience and includes a simple building guide for budding LEGO builders. The realistic vehicles, accessories and fun characters stimulate imaginative, open-ended role-play for children aged 5 and up. See the first tadpoles, the first green shoots and buds, the first waders returning to nest on Wader Lake. The first stop is a Fynbos field. This scene shows a zebra and an ostrich standing amongst Fynbos shrubs as they look out for approaching lions. Zebras and ostriches have a mutualistic relationship. The zebras use their superior sense of hearing to listen for approaching lions, while the ostriches use their superior sight to spot lions lurking in the grasslands. These two animals therefore often travel together. If you're looking for an action-toy playset that kids will love, this set has it all. With an awesome off-roader, toy lioness and parrot figures and 2 explorer minifigures armed with a pair of binoculars, a camera and a funny tree costume, the scene is set for exciting safari adventures. Unleash the wild fun of LEGO® City with this safari off-roader playset – designed to inspire open-ended, independent role-play based on real-life scenarios. The set is aimed at ages 7 and above, although that must mostly be due to the building techniques involved, because children of all ages would have a great time with any of the models, particularly the animals. I will admit to being somewhat biased, as giraffes have long been my favourite animals, but I’m of the opinion that they aren’t represented in LEGO enough! My almost-five-year-old daughter found the toilet in the tree house particularly funny, and spent quite a bit of time playing with the primary model.

Conclusion

This LEGO® City Safari Off-Roader (60267) playset makes an ideal Christmas, birthday or any-other-day gift for kids aged 5 and up who love model vehicles and role-play toys. Requires only very basic building skills. The tree house itself is also quite small, as it doesn’t even take up the full size of the roof, which overhangs on every side, propped up at the corners by red pillars. An orange door provides access to the interior, with windows on the three remaining sides, providing a good view of the surroundings from inside the hut. I’m not sure I agree with the colours chosen here, however, as they wouldn’t blend into their surroundings particularly well. LEGO® City Great Vehicles adventure playsets feature realistic vehicles and fun characters that inspire open-ended creative play, while helping youngsters improve physical skills and grow confidence. As well as being a great day out, the event is a brilliant way to highlight some of the wetland species that the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust has worked hard to save, such as the iconic Hawaiian goose and incredible spoon-billed sandpiper.
