About this deal

I couldn’t take that second, because the longer I held Naomi’s hand, the more likely it was that I would end up seeing things about her she might not want to know or want me to learn. She’s pampered, protected, but she’s never really felt like she truly fit in…and then one night she overhears something she shouldn’t and sets off a series of events that will change her life and possibly the future of the realm’s/world’s when she encounters a lord and later a Prince that is determined to make her his. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. And one would be unwise if one thought to compare oneself to any of the Baron’s paramours, but it was doubly foolish to measure oneself against Naomi.

If you’ve read FBAA’s spin-off/prequel series you might get major Nyktos/Sera vibes like I did between Lis and the Prince. In a turn of events and to the surprise of absolutely no one, especially those of you who have been around since the start, I am absolutely head over heels in love with this brand-new dark dystopian high fantasy novel by JLA; Fall of Ruin and Wrath. But at the same time I LOVED it and it's imperfections cause the writing has improved big time, believe you me. With the Hyborn requesting her as his companion, the hints of rebellion in the air, and the monsters attacking the Baron's estate, Lis must rely on her gifts now more than ever, but it might not be enough to save her and those she loves.

The characters were drawn to each other, but I couldn’t tell if deeper feelings developed between them. If you are a fan of fantasy books with incredible world-building, romance, drama and characters to fall. Anyway, I’m sure there’s a variety of readers who are into this kind of thing, but unfortunately it fell so far beneath my expectations and I think marks the final end for me as a JLA reader. At once, I thought of my Hyhborn—the unnamed lord who had touched my chin and asked how my arms had become so bruised.A handy power when she helps a Baron in exchange for protection, who then catches the eye of a prince after she helps free him from some rebels. Can understand that, FBAA is written in a very juvenile sort of way imo, but the characters are what make it good. She is abused ALL THE TIME, but apparently, she only complains when is the MMC, and she actually wants it.

Kat, Damon, Poppy, Casteel, Luc, Evie are all examples of characters that read the exact same with similar, if not the same, dynamics every time. She introduces us to an amazing, badass heroine whom I adore even more than her previous characters. If you’ve read A COURT OF SILVER FLAMES, in my opinion FALL OF RUIN AND WRATH is less graphic than that. I do wish we'd seen Lis and Grady interact a lot more in this book, to really understand how deep their bond is and why Lis makes the decisions she does. Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories…. I was so into it, that I caved in and bought the audiobook, to continue the story on my way to work, because I couldn’t put the book down and I was going to be late if I kept reading. The pull between them is undeniable and they fall into each other’s orbit, despite her intuition’s warning. Separated by vast wilderness teeming with monsters and unimaginable dangers, each city is now ruled by a guardian – royalty who feed on mortal pleasure. In this new series, Calista has a special gift that she can read peoples minds and glimpses of their deaths.

Though he had done so rather brutally, so I wasn’t sure that was a good example of a kind and caring Hyhborn. Everything just flows in such an organic, descriptive way without spending 3 pages describing the interior of a room or what a freaking chair looks like. He’d gotten his son now, and Laurelin had been struck with the fever that had taken so many after birth. A second passed, and another; then a series of tingles erupted between my shoulder blades and spread up, over the back of my skull. Even though the Hyhborn were mostly like absentee landlords who came around only when the rent was due, the Hyhborn controlled everything about the lowborn’s lives—from who could obtain an education to who could own land or companies. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. As someone who has read a decent amount of JLA and never really preferred them, I’m super curious as to where this would fall on my personal scale.
