About this deal

The story tends to dawdle in a few areas and not all the action feels quite as engaging as it should, such as the attack on Shatterdome. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The limitations of the standard blu-ray are obvious on a 4ktv, I want to upgrade just so the scenes with rain don't become a flurry of compression artifacts. If you want to show friends the difference HDR makes, this is a "pure" example of the very obvious difference without any pretense of a resolution upgrade. The BD houses the film and Bonus Materials, and appears to be the same 2D "Movie" Blu-ray from the original release (it even includes a pre-menu trailer for 'The Seventh Son').

The story was far from perfect, but I liked the fact that they were trying to do more with the plot than just monsters appearing to fight robots. upon the stellar, previously released 2015 Blu-ray in every way: textural clarity, color, and black level perfection. The triple-layered UHD100 disc sits comfortably opposite a Region Free, BD50 disc inside a black, eco-vortex case with a glossy slipcover. encode, supplying the complete onslaught of heavy metal against squishy, gooey flesh with a plethora of colors.Unfortunately, the low-end surprisingly is not as aggressive or earth-shattering as expected, especially when compared to the first movie.

While admittedly not a great movie, for guys and gals who like steam punk themes, monsters, and of course really big robot mechs, Guillermo del Toro serves up quite a feast of a real-live action anime. Again, we see a stronger contrast level with the HDR version but otherwise, details like eye-lashes and hair strands do not obviously stand out with the 4K version as any more defined. By the time opening day came around, 'Pacific Rim' sat with a healthy Rotten Tomatoes rating in the low 70s – but that didn't matter. From the welts and rivets in the Shatterdome doors and on the mech warriors’s suits to the individual stars, snowflakes and beads of water, this track is like a Kaiju, live and kicking! But I think it's very clear also that the "4K" version is suboptimal and there is surely much more resolution we can extract if this were a true 4K image.Of the young cast, the only one which displayed a mildly interesting personality is Viktoriya Malikova (Ivanna Sakhno), the young privileged pilot rivaling Amara as the hardened soldier. Dolby Vision is the best version and even though the range itself is not expanded, there are all the highlight details from SDR version.

Whether you see it or not, the film fits right into the heart of the summer blockbuster action lineup with its sheer gargantuan size alone. Thankfully, the film got an audio bump to Dolby Atmos on the 4K Ultra HD presentation and I couldn’t be happier about it. Heck, despite all the debris exploding everywhere in this flick, the dialog is a true winner as it always remains loud, clear and intelligible throughout. Pacific Rim set the benchmark for upscaled 4K releases, besting many native 4K discs out there through exceptional HDR and WCG implementation which go some way towards making up of the loss of that extra dimension. To close this post, I just want to put out a strong recommendation if you have 4K/HDR playback to consider grabbing BBC's Blue Planet II!

It uses 10-bit video depth, a Wider Colour Gamut (WCG) and High Dynamic Range (HDR), and is encoded using the HEVC (H. Whilst the first movie pushed the boundaries of darker themes within its PG-13 core, Uprising retreats well within them and indeed Spaeny's teen contingent could have easily been a Transformers player instead (although the shots of her would need to be more uncomfortably heavily sexualised), replete with pet robot Jaeger which actually transforms, but thankfully this isn't a Bay movie, so the parallels soon deviate. It provides action with impact; confrontation with consequence; spectacle with significance – it may not be a particularly weighty affair and, no doubt, there will be plenty of hardcore Del Toro fans who somehow expected far more than this from him but that's missing the point. As a direct follow-up to Guillermo Del Toro's 2013 sci-fi mecha actioner, Pacific Rim Uprising is relatively satisfying, sure to meet expectations of hardened fans while leaving others wanting more. While it took a couple viewings for me to appreciate, I've come to unabashedly adore 'Pacific Rim' for all its geektastic monster action, thrilling set-pieces, and world-building beauty. Unlike its lesser counterparts, Del Toro’s beast blends some element of consequence into the mix, putting human lives at the heart of his skyscraper-sized creations and pitting them against increasingly dangerous monsters that are remarkably hard to kill.
