For those who have listened to the original albums many times, it is a refreshing listening experience to hear these alternative versions. I can give them some credit I suppose as this is an old album and perhaps they didn't have the luxury of a brilliant recording to start. This release on CD could have included more alternate outtakes from the Super Deluxe editions of Tusk and Rumours, making it a better value than the LPs and more comprehensive for those who missed out on the earlier editions or just prefer to listen to alternate takes alone. Overall, the record isn’t as engaging as the earlier releases, and a few tracks, including “Angelsea” and “Freezing Steel,” feel like filler.

Throughout the book, both Caillat and Rojas detail not only the trials and sacrifices they made to finish the album, but also triumphs of musical inspiration and technical innovation that have made Tusk the darling of music critics and indie rockers today. Now, following the recent death of Christine McVie, who joined the band way back in 1970, those chances have dropped to zero.
