About this deal

Perlite does not hold water as well as peat moss or coconut coir, but it can be mixed with other materials to create a well-draining potting mix. Peat from the chemical point of view, is a complex mixture of mineral and organic components. The content of mineral components should be it is not more than 50% in terms of dry substance. The presence of mineral components and their quantity determine the ash content of the peat. Everything else is organic decomposition products of plants, structureless (amorphous) organic matter (compost, humus). In its natural state peat contains 86-95% water. The use of peat in the gardening and horticulture industry has significantly reduced over recent years, original targets were published by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs to eliminate the use of peat by 2020. Most recently the government have put a plan in place to protect peatlands and therefore gardeners will be banned from buying peat by May 2024. The reasons behind this are summarised as follows: Woody-sedge peat – peat woody-herbal groups, in the Botanical composition is from 35 to 65 % of residues herbaceous, sedges of which more than 35 %, and from 15 to 35% of wood. CEC provides buffering against changes in pH, available nutrients, calcium levels, and soil structure [37]. The organic amendments used in our research led to an increase in soil CEC, especially in the GWC plots. This might have resulted from a high degree of organic matter oxidation in the GWC-amended soil, which could increase CEC values [38]. We also noted that, from 2010 to 2012, the CEC tended to increase in the SP, FR, and GSF plots. This may primarily be due to the long-lasting decomposition process of organic amendments [22]. As a result, the partially decomposed organic matter accumulates and forms a layer of peat. Compaction Stagetransition type peat – the peat formed of vegetation oligotrophic and eutrophic types, in the Botanical composition of which more than 10% of residues of these types. Located between upland and lowland. A fully physico-chemical processes, it is not yet over, so it has a slightly acid reaction with ph of 3.2 to 4.2. It is characterized by the presence of a sufficient number of different minerals; Peat moss is harvested by cutting and removing the top layer of living plant material. This exposes the underlying peat, which is then harvested using specialized equipment.

Peat the ash content is classified into low-ash (< 5 %), crenately (5,1-10 %) and high ash (> 10 %). The high ash content typical for the lowland type, the lowest for peat.

Peat moss is a popular choice for gardeners and farmers due to its ability to retain moisture and nutrients.

Peat moss is an important component of many gardening and agricultural products, but its harvesting can have significant environmental impacts. Wood transitional sedge peat transitional peat woody-herbal groups, in the Botanical composition is from 35 to 65 % of the residues of sedges and 15 to 35 % of wood. By being mindful of the source of their soil amendments, gardeners can make a positive impact on the environment while still achieving healthy and productive gardens. The pressure from the weight of the layers causes the water to be squeezed out of the partially decomposed organic matter, resulting in the formation of a dense, spongy material. Preservation StageIn Russia, peat moss is found in the northern regions of the country, particularly in the Siberian and Far Eastern regions. Other Regions
